Is it re-rated?

There’s virtually an unlimited number of attachments that can be used with a forklift truck. Before fitting a non standard attachment to a forklift, the manufacturer’s input is essential to ensure compatibility. In addition, non standard attachments are often installed without considering the effect they have on the machines lifting capacity. By using the forklifts data plate and the information with the attachment, the de-rated capacity of the industrial lift truck may be calculated. Re-rated information is added to the data plate showing the lower lifting capacities for every attachment intended to be used on each machine. For more about attachments and other forklift safety information, make Safe Work Australia’s publication, General Guide for Industrial Lift Trucks, a part of your toolbox meeting or safety meeting agenda.
THE MESSAGE? Don’t use an attachment on a forklift if its data plate does not show the forklift’s capacity with that attachment fitted.
